MINES INSPECTED
GOVERNOR-GENERAL ON COAST By Telegraph Press Association WESTPORT, June 22 The Governor-General, Lord Galway, accompanied by Mr D. J. Archer, country chairman, to-day visited Denniston, Granity, Ngakawau, and Millerton, making a long inspection of the Wareatea section of the Westport Coal Company’s Denniston mines, this being particularly interesting to Lord Galway as he is one of the directors of a coal mining company in the Old Country. He was especially pleased to note the area from which came the coal that saved the Calliope in the great storm at Apia that strewed the beaches with other vessels not so well fuelled. His Excellency briefly addressed the school children at Denniston, and passing through the other townships he was cheered by the children who were drawn up in lines under their teachers.
