Mr S. Rodger (Dunedin) is staying at the Grand. Mr W. Lock, of Nelson, has completed forty years’ service as a Justice of the Peace. Mr C. J. Walsh has been elected captain of the Palmerston North Golf Club, succeeding Mr H. Bott, who is to take up a position in Timaru. Mr W. J. G. Dennis, of the League of Nations Secretariat, and author of the controversial book "Coronation Commentary,” who was to have represented the League at the New Education Fellowship Conference in New Zealand next month, has cancelled his trip to the Dominion, according to advice received by the Auckland committee of the conference.
