RACES AT WASHDYKE . TRIM SUITS AND NEW TYPES OF BERETS Autumn styles this season are very individual, particularly in the matter of hats, and among those seen at the South Canterbury Jockey Clubs meeting on Saturday were the very newest types of beret and small tight-fitting toques with rising crowns. The useful sports suit was very much in evidence and # made its appearance in browns, reds and greens. Those who wore lighter weight materials wore coats of fur or wraps to guard against the chilly wind which sprang up during the afternoon. Those present included Mrs C. L. Orbell, bottle green herring bone tweed coat and skirt, green hat with a yellow quill. Mrs A. S. Elworthy, nut brown boucle ensemble, the long coat having lapels and cuffs of brown and white patterned crepe-de-chene, small brown hat and furs. Mrs Harold Elworthy, lightly checked tailored coat and skirt, brown blouse and light brown Robin Hood hat. Mrs E. G. Kerr, bulrush brown suit with collar of brown broadtail, brown velour hat and furs. Mrs James Scott, cocoa brown coat worn with a brown frock relieved with blue and a brown hat. Mrs Derrick Orbell, light green frock worn with a musquash fur coat and a brown hat with green feather mount. Mrs G. R. Kingston, black tailored coat with collar and revers of Persian lamb, tight-fitting hat with lemon shaded quill. Mrs W. H. Orbell, navy blue coat and skirt, blue hat and fur coat. Mrs H. Sinclair-Thomson, reseda green suit and close-fitting hat, worn with a brown crepe-de-chene blouse, and tartan scarf. Mrs L. E. Finch, leaf green patterned tweed suit, brown coat with sable collar and a brown felt hat. Mrs H. Haprer, frock of brown, patterned with white, mole astrakan coat and a brown hat with green band. Mrs R. Irving, Albury, navy pin stripe English tweed coat and skirt, fur coat and navy toque with eye veil. Mrs C. J. LeCren, cherry-coloured coat and skirt, with beige jumper and green felt hat. Mrs G. H. R. Ulrich, nigre brown ribbed woollen suit with blue check blouse, brown hat and furs. Mrs P. A. Elworthy, tailored coat of fawn boucle, and a brown Breton sailor felt hat. Mrs McKergow, light brown tweed suit and small brown hat. Mrs J. C. Elworthy, sedge green frock and hat to match, worn with a brown fur coat. Mrs J. W. Fair, bottle green and violet flecked frock, fur coat and green hat. Mrs W. Howell, chocolate brown cloth coat with wide fur collar and a brown felt hat. Mrs H. V. Drew, wine coloured woollen suit and wine velour hat. Mrs Stewart, Maungatl, brown and fawn tweed coat and skirt, brown cravat and a brown felt hat. Mrs d’Auvergne, Waimate, black and white check coat and skirt, powder blue jumper and a black velour hat. Mrs Bruce Baxter, dark blue ensemble, with three-quarter length astrakan coat, small astrakan hat with scarlet quill. Mrs J. S. Turnbull, turf brown coat and skirt, with dark fawn jumper and a brown felt hat. Mrs H. E. D. Willcox, blue suit, black fur coat and black velour hat. Mrs Scannell, Temuka, deep green suit and hat and a brown fur coat. Mrs C. Verity, dark blue coat with frock to tone and a blue felt hat. Mrs J. W. Adams, Imperial blue frock, black cloth coat with mole fur collar, black hat. Mrs A. J., Allport, light green tweed suit with dark green suede belt and a green felt hat. Mrs Walter Raymond, brown cloth cloat with wide dollar of skunk fur, and a brown Angora felt hat. Mrs J. S. Satterthwaite, light henna suit worn with a navy blouse and hat. Mrs D. Unwin, blue patterned marocain frock, with navy coat, and hat with small eye veil. Mrs K. de Castro, dark blue tailored suit, and close-fitting hat with upstanding quill at the back. Mrs C. Kain, rust coloured Angora coat and skirt, cinnamon velour hat. Mrs A. Fleming, musquash fur coat worn with a check suit and brown velour hat with velvet bow. Mrs T. Irvine, green flecked woven suit, tan coloured crepe-de-chene blouse and green hat. Mrs J. Priest, black blistered cloth coat with wide fur collar and a black hat. Mrs F. M.
