RACES AT WASHDYKE . TRIM SUITS AND NEW TYPES OF BERETS Autumn styles this season are very individual, particularly in the matter of hats, and among those seen at the South Canterbury Jockey Clubs meeting on Saturday were the very newest types of beret and small tight-fitting toques with rising crowns. The useful sports suit was very much in evidence and # made its appearance in browns, reds and greens. Those who wore lighter weight materials wore coats of fur or wraps to guard against the chilly wind which sprang up during the afternoon. Those present included Mrs C. L. Orbell, bottle green herring bone tweed coat and skirt, green hat with a yellow quill. Mrs A. S. Elworthy, nut brown boucle ensemble, the long coat having lapels and cuffs of brown and white patterned crepe-de-chene, small brown hat and furs. Mrs Harold Elworthy, lightly checked tailored coat and skirt, brown blouse and light brown Robin Hood hat. Mrs E. G. Kerr, bulrush brown suit with collar of brown broadtail, brown velour hat and furs. Mrs James Scott, cocoa brown coat worn with a brown frock relieved with blue and a brown hat. Mrs Derrick Orbell, light green frock worn with a musquash fur coat and a brown hat with green feather mount. Mrs G. R. Kingston, black tailored coat with collar and revers of Persian lamb, tight-fitting hat with lemon shaded quill. Mrs W. H. Orbell, navy blue coat and skirt, blue hat and fur coat. Mrs H. Mrs R. Irving, Albury, navy pin stripe English tweed coat and skirt, fur coat and navy toque with eye veil. Mrs C. J. LeCren, cherry-coloured coat and skirt, with beige jumper and green felt hat. Mrs G. H. R. Ulrich, nigre brown ribbed woollen suit with blue check blouse, brown hat and furs. Mrs P. A. Elworthy, tailored coat of fawn boucle, and a brown Breton sailor felt hat. Mrs Scannell, Temuka, deep green suit and hat and a brown fur coat. Mrs C. Verity, dark blue coat with frock to tone and a blue felt hat. Mrs J. W.
