SAFETY IN THE AIR
INVESTIGATIONS IN AMERICA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 18, 7.55 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 17. The Commerce Committee of the Senate, after completing a long investigation into fatal plane crashes, recommends the expenditure of 14,545,000 dollars for the promotion of air safety. The committee asked Congress to appropriate 10,000,000 dollars this session to construct and maintain aids for air navigation. Other funds are sought to enable the weather Bureau to improve the forecasting, to study pilot fatigue, to develop high-powered motors, and to conduct a general research in aeronautics.
