USEFUL HINTS

Liquid glue is necessary for odd jobs. Dissolve 11b glue in 1 pint water by placing one vessel containing the mixture in another containing hot water, and keep it hot. As it cools add gradually 3oz nitric acid. Bottle when cold in stoppered bottles. This glue does not set. It keeps well, and is always at hand.

If the legs of a table are of uneven length, screw a rubber heel to the base of the shortest leg. Trim to the shape of the leg, which will give the proper balance. Stray wedges of wood are then unnecessary.

If you have a small leak in your garden hose which, you wish to mend, cut off a short length from an old bicycle tube, long enough to cover the leak with a little to overlap on each side. Slide this piece of tube on the hose and along to the leak until it covers 'it sufficiently, leaving a little overlap at each end. Now bind the tubing tightly to the hose with string, and it will be found that the leak will give no more trouble.
