EXCESSIVE DRINKING
REPORTS REACH MAGISTRATE By Telegraph-Press Association BLENHEIM, March 10. Reports of excessive drinking at Kaikoura by men employed on public works camps were referred to at a meeting of the Wairau Licensing Committee by the chairman, Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M. Mr Maunsell said that rumours had reached his ears that complaints had been made by travellers that excessive drinking by public works men was taking place at Kaikoura. He suggested that Sergeant Smith, of Blenheim, should instruct the Kaikoura police to keep the matter under observation and report to the annual meeting of the committee whether excessive drinking was being pjermitted. If such was the case, the committee would consider what steps would be necessary.
