SOUTH CANTERBURY TOURNAMENT FINALITY REACHED IN TWO GRADES It was unfortunate that the open championship matches could not be completed yesterday, the same players being required in all games. The trophies won in the B and events were presented by Mrs W. Taylor, the president of the Association, who expressed a hope that all the visiting competitors had enjoyed the tournament. She felt sure they had done so, as several of the most important trophies were going away with them. She hoped the players would return, bringing others to compete m the next tournament. The Association had been fortunate in receiving two valuable cups to be competed for in the A. and C. Grade championships, and Mrs Taylor thanked the donors, Mrs J. V. Foxon and Miss Cullman. She congratulated the winner cl the Foxon Cup, Mrs Bugden, of West End Club. Special congratulations were extended to Mr S. K. Martin, of Ashburton, who, after years of all sorts of sports, had recently started croquet, and. with his partner. Mrs Jarden, of the Opawa Club, had won the handicap doubles.
