ACCIDENT SOCIETY ELECTS OFFICERS B? Telegraph —Fr«s.» Association NELSON, March 9 At the annual meeting of the United Fire Brigade Association’s Accident Society the following officers were elected: President, Deputy-Supt. A. White (Greymouth); vice-presidents, Supt. R. Henderson (Hastings), and Supt. W. Stokes (New Brighton); treasurer, Mr C. Osborne ((Onehunga); secretary, Capt. T. Watts (Newmarket); auditor. Mr Moller (Auckland). Various remits were dealt with concerning the rules of fire brigade demonstrations. The annual conference of the Association elected the following officers— President, Supt. A. J. Bennett (Nelson); vice-presidents. Sec. D. L. Ferguson (Gisborne), Foreman C. H. Carey (Patea), and treasurer M. C. A. Osborne (Onehunga). Gold stars for 25 years’ service were presented to R. W. Dayman (Nelson), W. C. Draper (Hastings), T. H. Seymour (Dunedin), and A. White (Greymouth). It was resolved that the executive inquire into the possibility of the Government reducing the license fees for motor fire engines. Invitations for the next conference were received from Whangarei, New Plymouth and Thames. A vote in the matter will be taken by the affiliated brigades as soon as possible. A motion was passed requesting the Minister to re-embody the provisions in the new motor vehicles regulations making prosecution possible where fire hose is run over by vehicles. Last year’s officers and members of the Institute were all re-elected with the addition of Supt. Morrison (Christchurch) as vice-president.
