A meeting of the provisional directors and others interested in the Wellington Centennial Exhibition proposal was held to-day, when the statutory report (pursuant to the Companies Act, 1933) was represented. In moving the adoption of the report, the Mayor (Mr T.' C. A. Hislop) said the time had arrived to review the work of the provisional board of directors, and to appoint a permanent board. He had Interviewed representatives of some of the largest overseas firms doing business in New Zealand with encouraging results. The Indications generally were that conditions were favourable to the project in hand. They had a qualified Government subsidy of £50,000 and also a Government loan of £25, 000 free of interest. What they now had to do was to appoint a permanent board of directors and go ahead immediately with the project. They were to meet the Minister of Railways on Monday next, after which the question of site would be determined. They could then push on with matters managerial, the appointment of various committees and the lay-out of the exhibition. The following permanent board of directors was appointed: Messrs T C. A. Hislop, D. J. McGowan (chairman of the Harbour Board), J. A. Heenan (Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs), J. Reed, F. Johnson (Government appointees), C. J. B. Norwood, W A. Appleton, c. w.
