NEW HEADQUARTERS OF THE ROYAL EMPIRE SOClETY.— Magnificent new headquarters were recently completed for the Royal Empire Society in Northumberland Avenue, London. Top left, the library, which contains a quarter of a million volumes of Empire interest. Beyond it is the newspaper room, where newspapers and periodicals from all parts of the Empire are filed. Top right, the dining-room, which is panelled in silky Canadian birch, the gift of the Canadian Government. Bottom left, the Assembly Hall, panelled in Tasmanian oak, the gift of the Tasmanian Timber Association. The decorations include groups of symbols representing the Dominions and colonies. Bottom right, the buffet lounge, panelled in Uganda mahogany, the gift of the late Lord Woolavington. Extreme right, the facade of the new building.
