CRIBBAGE EVENING The weekly cribbage evening was held on Tuesday and was well attended by parents and others interested in the welfare of the school. The prizes were won by Mrs A. G. Pratt and Mr Donald Gregory.

PERSONAL Mr and Mrs J. Mclntyre have returned from a visit to Fairfield. Mr A. G. Pratt, junr.. has taken up a position at Ardgour. Central Otago. GENERAL An exceptionally heavy downpour was experienced at Pareora on Tuesday night. Gutters and downpipes were unable to cope with the stream, and water entered many houses. The funeral of Mr William Koens took place at the Timaru Cemetery. Mr Koens, who was bom in Holland, and came to New Zealai.d at an early age. He had been in the employ of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company at Belfast, Fairfield, and Pareora for nearly 40 years. Mr Koens leaves a widow' and two sons—Messrs V. Koens 'Dunedin), and R. Koens (Pareora). ORARI WEATHER IN FEBRUARY There was rain on 14 days at Orari in February, and a few days of real summer weather. The total rainfall was 230 points. Unfortunately there has been hardly any real harvest weather, and many of the crops are still out. some not yet being cut. There were two or three slight frosts sufficient to blacken the more tender plants in gardens, but the damage was not serious. ORARI READERS The monthly meeting of the Orari Readers was held at the residence of Misses R. P. and A. T. Williams, Woodbury Road, Geraldine. There was a good attendance of members present, and a very pleasant evening was spent reading "Macbth.”
