HOSPITAL ENGINEERS
CONFERENCE IN TIMARU The biennial conference of the New Zealand Hospital Engineers’ Association opened in the South Canterbury Hospital Board room yesterday. The conference was presided over by Mr W. T. Gray (Wellington), vice-president, and will be concluded to-day. The following officers were elected: President, Mr F. C. Jacobs (Auckland); vice-presidents, Messrs W. T. Gray (Wellington), J. L. Gormack (Balclutha); executive, Messrs J. H. Mander (New Plymouth), W. G. Sandes (Napier), C. W. Lock (Timaru); hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr Martin Smith (Hawera); hon. auditor, Mr D. Howlett (Pukeora Sanatorium). The following resolution was carried: “That in view of the highly technical nature of present-day hospital engineering and the problems attached thereto, we respectfully submit that it would be to the advantage of all concerned if a qualified engineer with practical hospital experience were appointed to the staff of the Health Department with whom the hospital engineers could confer from time to time.” The conference, which was largely representative of the Dominion, discussed several important subjects of a technical nature.
