WASHDYKE
FAREWELL SOCIAL A pleasant evening was spent in the Washdyke Hall when friends gathered to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs T. Williams, old and respected residents. The chairman, Mr J. Jackson, expressed sorrow at their departure and wished them every happiness in their future home. Messrs W. Parlane, W. Dore, J. Wilson and P. Mahoney also spoke in glowing terms of the high esteem in which the guests of honour were held. Mrs R. Mahoney then presented Mr and Mrs Williams with a wallet of notes. Miss M. Mahoney handed a bouquet to Mrs Williams and a buttonhole to Mr Williams. Mr W. Connolly, on behalf of Mr and Mrs Williams, thanked those present for the handsome gift and kind remarks. Items were contributed by Misses Norma Best (Irish Jig), L. Mulligan (songs), K. Connolly (songs), Mr H. J. Harris (recitations), and Mr W. Durning (songs). Miss O. Greenal! and Mr P. L. Sherry acted as accompanists.
