LATEST ADVICES The Port Whangerei was the only vessel to work at Timaru yesterday. She arrived from Oamaru and after taking Wellington, New Plymouth and Wanganui cargo sailed for Wellington. Two vessels are due to-day—the Japanese steamer Melbourne Maru from Wellington to load wool and the Walpiata from Dunedin to take general cargo for Wellington and Auckland. She is to sail for Wellington direct this evening. It is expected the Melbourne Maru also will get away for Lyttelton to-night. ARRIVAL December 29 Port Whangerei, m.vv., 505 tons (Holm), from Oamaru. (H. J. R. Somerville and Co., agents.) DEPARTURE December 29 Port Whangerei, m.v., for Wellington. EXPECTED ARRIVALS The following list of steamers’ movements is compiled in accordance with advices supplied by agents for the different lines:—

NOTES The Waikouaiti is now due from Dunedin to-morrow to discharge coal and general Australian cargo. She will load for Sydney before proceeding via Lyttelton, Oamaru and Bluff to Sydney. The Gale is scheduled to load for Wellington and Wanganui at Timaru to-morrow. She is due from Dunedin and should get away that night for Lyttelton. The Holmglen is to load for Wellington, New Plymouth and Waikato at this port on Saturday. Benreoch for Wool The Scales Line steamer Benreoch is due from Lyttelton to-morrow to load wool for London and the Continent. It is expected she will remain in port until January 5, when she is to proceed to Port Chalmers. Canadian Constructor Coming Messrs D. C. Turnbull and Co. advise that the Montreal-Australia-New Zealand Line ship Canadian Constructor will call at Timaru from Dunedin about January 27 to load for American and Continental ports. Sailed: Melbourne Maru (11.10 a.m.) for Timaru; Waltaki (5.18 p.m.) for Lyttelton; Marama (5.45 p.m.) for Bluff; Wahine (7.50 p.m.) for Lyttelton. LYTTELTON, December 29. Arrived—Rangatlra (6.40 a.m.) from Wellington. Sailed —Gale (noon) for Dunedin; Breeze (12.5 p.m.) and Foxton (12.25 p.m.) for Wellington; Ruahine (1 p.m.) for London; Rangatira (8.25 p.m.) and Holmdale (8.35 p.m.) for Wellington.
