WEDDINGS

MACGREGOR—JEPHSON Southland and Otago friends among others will hear with interest of the marriage celebrated last evening at the Sacred Heart Church between Eileen Josephine Anne, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Jephson, Timaru, to John Gordon, youngest son of Mr John M. MacGregor, of Dunedin. The Rev. Father W. Peoples S.M., performed the ceremony and Mr B. Murphy assisted as organist. The bride was escorted by her father and attending her were her cousin, Miss Kathleen Flynn and the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Jean MacGregor, with little Kevin Perriam as page boy. Attendant on the bridegroom were Mr W. Jephson, brother of the bride as best man and Mr Jack Lester, of Invercargill, cousin of the bridegroom, as groomsman.

A lovely bridal gown of ivory satin had been chosen by Miss Jephson. It was made with simple silhouette, closely moulded, while at the back the gown fell below the waist into a wide graceful train with French pleated frills of stiffened net forming its border. The sleeves tapered to the wrists and the neckline was prettily tucked. The only touch to relieve the severity of the style showed in the silver girdle encircling the waist. The long veil was arranged from the customary orange blossom buds, and lilies composed the bridal sheaf. The page boy who bore the bride’s train wore a pink satin suit. The gowns of the bridesmaids were of sistine blue georgette with skirts widening gracefully to the hem and in lieu of sleeves little flares drooped over each shoulder and outlined with pink roses to match the corsage spray. Accompanying the gowns were becoming hats of blue georgette and pink net in picture style. Each maid wore long blue gloves and held a bouquet of blue and pink sweet peas. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents in Preston Street. The guests were met in the hall by Mr and Mrs Jephson and by the bride and bridegroom. Regal lilies and blue delphiniums were used for decorations. The bridal table was decorated with pink and pale cream sweet peas. Mrs Jephson wore an ensemble of navy floral morocain patterned in beige, pink and green. The frilled neckline was caught by a green flowered clasp. Her hat was

of navy blue straw with a taffeta brim. Shaded roses were in her bouquet. The bridegroom’s sister Mrs A. Jackson, of Dunedin, wore a frock of red moracain patterned in white with a white chip straw hat. Her shoulder spray was of cream roses. For travelling north, the bride changed into a smart black tailored costume with dainty blouse of pink organdi. Her hat was of black lacquered straw with pink flowers in front of the veiled brim. She also wore a handsome skunk fur stole, a gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs J. MacGregor will make their home at Winchester.
