Mr and Mrs Arthur Hay and family of Christchurch, are staying with Mrs A. K. Grieve, Cain Street. Miss Marion Wotherspoon, Rathmore Street, is holidaying at the Franz Josef. Miss E. Rush has left Timaru to spend the holidays in the North Island. Mrs A. Jackson and Miss J. MacGregor, of Dunedin, are the guests of Mrs Perriman, Regent Street. Misses Anne Ritchie and Gertrude Nolan (Timaru) and Misses McMahon (Reefton) leave Wellington to-day by the Awatea for Australia. Miss Q. G. M. Ward and Miss Marjorie Kennedy who have been visiting Timaru leave on their return to Wellington to-day. Mr and Mrs W. M. Satterthwaite, who spent Christmas with Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite, Elizabeth Street, returned yesterday to Christchurch. Mrs W. Adams, of Greendale, is expected this week to stay with her mother, Mrs Newbegin, Craighead Street, for the Mills-Mahan wedding. Mr and Mrs L. E. Finch, Park Lane, are expected to return to-day from a visit to Mrs R. D. Eliott, “Chwynd,” Cricklewood. The engagement is announced of Arthur Trevor, youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Campbell, St. Albans, Christchurch, and Amy Evelyn, daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Dash, St. Andrews.

Mrs Stevens of Victoria, Mrs Hodges and family of Invercargill and Miss Maclntyre of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs H. Mclntyre, Church Street West.

Mrs T. Harris, Miss Imelda and Theresa Hanis, Miss Kathleen and Ima Flynn, Miss Grace Winder, Dunedin, are staying with Mrs W. Jephson, Preston Street, for the Mac-Gregor-Jephson wedding this evening.

The engagement is announced of Daphne, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. J. Jackson, “Oneida,” Glen-iti, and Raymond, younger son of Mr and Mrs F. D. Hathaway, College Road, Timaru.

Mrs A. Buckingham, of Rangiora, will be the guest of Mrs Mahan, Nile Street, for the marriage of her daughter, Miss Gretta Mahan, to Mr Stuart Mills, which takes place at St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday afternoon.

The engagement is announced of Edna, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. T. Morrison, Brunswick Street, Timaru and Dudley, only son of Mr and Mrs H. A. Papprill, Cashmere, Christchurch.

Many people in South Canterbury will be interested in the wedding which took place in Wellington last week of Mr Fergus James Mills, son of the late Mr and Mrs D. C. Mills, Temuka, and Miss Lois Joyce Bennett, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. P. Bennett, Wellington. The bridesmaids were Misses Rachael Bennett and Marjorie Barker. Mr Stuart Mills was his brother’s best man and the groomsman was Mr Bernard Beale.
