SPIRAL SUCCEEDS IN CUP By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., December 26. The Manawatu Racing Club’s summer meeting opened in fine but overcast weather. There was a very large attendance Including the GovernorGeneral. The totalisator handled £38,143/10/- against £24,227 on the first day last year, an increase of £12,916 10/-. Queen and Dungarvan, but Rona Bay moved to the front after three furlongs. With a mile covered the leaders were Tiger Gain, Rona Bay, One Whetu, Hunting Queen, Round Score, Tout le Monde and Padishah, with Dungarvan boxed in. The order was much the same into the straight, where Spiral produced a brilliant run which enabled him to win on the post.
