CUDDLE’S SECOND SUCCESS ADALENE SPRINGS SURPRISE By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, December 26. The Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting opened in hot sunny weather to-day, the attendance of 38,000 being the best for 10 years at Ellerslie. The track was in perfect order. The totalisator investments were £102,798, compared with £76,928/10/last year, and the only occasion the figure has exceeded £lOO,OOO since 1929, when £121,000 was Invested. W. Rennie, rider of Modern Maid, was injured when the horse fell in the Grafton Hurdles and sent to hospital suffering from concussion. Just after passing the half mile post Cuddle dashed to the front and was never afterwards headed to win the Cup for the second successive year In comfortable style.
