NEW ZEALAND FREIGHTER INVOLVED PASSENGERS ASSIST IN WORKING VESSEL United Press Association—Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 27, 11.32 p.m.) HONOLULU, December 27. Six passengers joined the officers and stewards in handling the New Zealand freighter Limerick, which sailed for Auckland to-day. Thirty-one members of the crew struck as a protest against the use of non-union stevedores hr unloading the craft in December, and they remained ashore despite the advice of the British Consul. Volunteer passengers took two hour spells at the wheel, and were assisted by four officers, ten engineers and five sailors who remained on duty. The strikers predict that the New Zealand Union will support them. The immigration authorities declared that the strikers would be subject to deportation to New Zealand in sixty days.
