TEMUKA STOCK SALE KEEN MARKET 2000 FAT LAMBS YARDED The sale held yesterday at Temuka was the last in the district for the 1936 season. In keeping with the late sales the market was a splendid one all round. Fat Cattle. An offering of more than 100 head met with strong competition from butchers. ORANGES AND BANANAS A CONSIGNMENT OF 3000 By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, December 21. A consignment of 3000 cases of bananas arrived from Fiji by the Niagara, which also brought 1000 cases of Californian oranges sent by land to Vancouver owing to the impossibility of shipping them from Los Angeles or San Francisco through the Pacific Coast strike.

Fat cows— Best £6/7 6 to £7/17/6 Medium .. £4/17 6 to £5/12/6 Fat heifers— Best £8/7 6 to £10/ 7/6 Medium .. £5/12 6 to £6/ 7/6 Fat steers— Best £10 to £11/17/6 Medium .. £8 to £9 Light .. .. £6/ 7 6 to £7 Runners to £6/12/6 Vealers to £3/ 2/6 Cow and runner £7/ 2 6 Store and Dairy Cattle The offering of store and dairy cattle was the smallest for months. No change can be reported in either section. Sales were:— Bulls to £3/ 2/6 Empty cows to £5/ 2/6 Yearling steers . to £2/17/6 Cows in profit .. to £6/ 2/6 Fat Lambs. The 2000 fat lambs entered were of excellent quality. All exporters were operating and bidding was buoyant, the market being fully the equal of the other lamb sales so far held this season. The range was :— Fat lambs (best) .. .. 27/- to 31/1 Fat Iambs (medium) .. 24/7 to 26/7 Fat Sheep. One and a half races of fat sheep sold on a par to slightly ahead of the Pleasant Point sale. Large entries of fat sheep have not come forward lately. Prices were Fat wethers (in wool) 32/- to 38/6 Fat ewes (in wool) .... 26/- to 32/6 Fat wethers (shorn) .. 24/- to 26/10 Fat ewes (shorn) .. .. 20/- to 24/Pigs. The offering was smaller than was the case at the last market. Values were the equal of late rates. Sales were:— Weaners 16/- to 22/Slips 20/- to 25/Stores 25/- to 28/Porkers 38/- to 45/Baconers 65/- to 72/6 Store Sheep. Only three pens were forward. Sales were:— Aged shorn wethers 8/- to 12/1 Aged ewes and lambs .. 15/1
