WEDDING

MOFFITT—GRAY Friends gathered on Saturday afternoon at “Riverside,” Esk Valley, as guests at the marriage of Barbara Maytie, third daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Gray, to Joshua, second son of Mr and Mrs H. E. Moffitt, of Timaru. The Rev. Patterson officiated at the service which took place in a most picturesque garden setting. The wedding music was played by Mrs Hall Masters, of Dunedin, who also sang a solo. Mr Percy Grs.y escorted his sister who was followed by two bridesmaids. Misses Edna Morrison (Timaru) and Katherine Midgeley (Springbrook). Attendant on the groom were MiHenry Clark as best man and Mr Robert Gray, brother of the bride, as groomsman.

The lovely bridal gown of magnolia duchesse satin fitted sheathlike to the figure and was cut with a long train sweeping out from the waist in pleated sunray effect. The sleeves tapered closely to the wrists and pleating from the base of the square shaped neckline gave a soft line to the bodice which was finished at the neck with a cluster of orange blossom buds. Slashings at the back were laced with gold repeating the tint of the girdle encircling the waist. From a coronet head-dress of stiffened pleated tulle and orange blossom, her plain tulle veil, fell over her gown in filmy folds. Cream roses were in her bouquet. The bride’s nephew, lan Hampton, as page boy, bore the bridal train. He wore a cream satin suit with frills of georgette. Arm sprays of Madame Heriot pink roses mingled with mignonette and dainty little floral Tudor caps, veiled with tulle were charming accompaniments to the deep begonia shaded pink French cloque frocks worn by the bridesmaids. Bias cut, they were slightly trained and ruched down the centre front with square-cut necklines and leg o’ mutton sleeves ruched at the shoulders. The bodices were relieved with a touch of green showing in lacings of satin, drawing together two slender slits back and front. Beautiful flowers had been used in decoration for the reception subsequently held. In the marquee, the bridal table showed cream and pink roses and the rooms in the house were fragrant with varied roses and stock. Mrs Gray, the bride’s mother, wore a graceful gown of wine lace with wide black straw hat, and her bouquet was of shaded pink and red roses. Mrs Moffitt, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a black gown relieved with white, black coat and hat. Red roses were in her bouquet. For travelling the bride donned a smart tailored suit of navy blue, poudre blue georgette blouse and smart navy straw hat trimmed with blue posy. Mr and Mrs J. Moffitt will make their home in Dunedin. The wedding festivities concluded with a dance in the evening.
