DOMINION PRODUCTS ! OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW ZEALAND GOODS While wool is the principal commodity in which New Zealand is likely to secure increased purchases from Japan there is also a market for other forms of produce, mainly hides and skins, maize, casein and beef tallow. With organised publicity, of the type that is being conducted in Great Britain, there is no reason why New Zealand should not increase her trade with Japan in these products considerably, states Mr Geoffrey Muir, 8.A., of New Zealand, who is visiting Japan at the present time. Next to wool, Japan’s demand for hides and skins is stated to offer the greatest scope for expansion in the near future. Last year Japan’s imports of hides and skins, including buffalo hides, which are not separated in the official statistics, were valued at £1,525,000, compared with £1,165,000 in 1934.
