DEAREST LITTLE PEOPLE, Verily, the days are treading upon one another's heels! In four more weeks, says the calendar above my little writingdesk, Christmas Day will be over for another year! I shudder when I think of the hundred and one things that must be done before that time.—Christmas shopping to be attended to, the Special Christmas Page to be prepared, a trunk to pack—for, like most of you, lam going holiday-making. And because lam going over the hills and far away, lots and lots of important work has to be done first; for the material to fill our Page for weeks to come must all be in the hands of Mr Printerman before I close my desk and lock the door of my writing-room. So you are not the only busy people these days, my dears. Still, just think how much more we will enjoy our holidays when these busy days come to an end. What are your holidays going to be, I wonder?—Bush days, sea days, country days, river days? Plenty of time for bathing and playing and dreaming? I hope so, because I am going to try to cram all those things into my holiday. I hope you will all write me the longest of holiday letters as soon as old Mr Letter-Box wakes up from his Summer Sleep. Unlike the bear and the beaver, he always chooses the middle of Summer to do his sleeping. And perhaps that is just as well, because, as most of us are away from home, and are out-of-doors from daylight till dark, it really is the best time of the year to have a Letter Holiday. Our Letter Holiday begins next week, on December sth.. and though Circlians may write during the next few weeks, If they wish, their letters will not be answered after December 12th until the Letter Holiday is over. Are you busy thinking wise thoughts for Christmas stories and poems? And planning lovely Christmasy drawings? I hope so. All your contributions must reach me by Wednesday, Sth; and try not to be late, won’t you, as the Christmas Page has to be prepared earlier than usual this year. /A Lots of Love and Happy Thoughts, / -XZtM- I r {A . FROM YOUR OWN, *
