MOTUROA OILFIELDS PREFERENCE DIVIDEND By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 27. The annual meeting of Moturoa oilfields Ltd., was held to-day. A recommendation to pay a dividend at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum on preference shares for the year ended August 31, 1935, was adopted, that for 1936 being deferred. The report showed that it was not possible to recommend a dividend on ordinary shares. The retiring directors, Mr H. B. Hart and Mr A. B. Williams, were re-elected.

The influence of the new loan, coupled with th a usual slackening of dealings towards the end of the year, caused a further contraction of business on the Stock Exchange to-day. Weakness was apparent in practically all shares.

Melbourne Exchange Loans showed a slight improvement, and leading industries were easier. Swan Brewery went up sharply on the announcement of the splitting of shares. Barriers were strong but tin and gold mining shares were irregular.

At the wool sales 10,096 bales were offered including 4500 from New Zealand, 9692 being sold. Business is quieter, mainly owing to users being already well covered. PRODUCE MARKETS CHRISTCHURCH By Telegraph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 27. The grain and produce markets remain quiet and will probably stay quiet until the beginning of the new year. The main interest is in wheat, which has continued to firm. Good whole fowl wheat is very hard to obtain and the value is 4/10 f.o.b. Undergrade is in excellent demand and is worth 4/6 to 4/8A according to sample. Oats remain firm and chaff has increased slightly in price, the value being £3 a ton on trucks far out and up to £3/5/- for near stations.

There is some interest in the new crop of potatoes but actual dealings are not many. The price for April-May-June is £3 on trucks, a reduction of 10/- a ton on the price offered a month ago. Next season's oats have also attracted some attention at 3 on trucks for April-Steptember delivery. DUNEDIN By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, November 27. Little interest is being shown in milling wheat, but fow] wheat is firm. Few lines of oats are now held in the stores. A grade Gartons are worth 3/6 to 3/7 f.0.b.5.i., with B’s ruling at 3/4. The chaff market remains quiet with only small demand. Best quality is worth £4/10/- a ton ex truck and £5/1/- ex store. The potato market is weak and the i demand is now being focussed on the new crop. The seed markets are quiet with little wholesale business going through. The demand from overseas has slackened off, and in the meantime trade is confined to retail orders to the country. FROZEN MEAT
