CROSS-BREDS SELL WELL MODERATE SELECTION OFFERED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 24, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, September 23. At the wool sales 11,368 bales were offered, including 7334 from New Zealand. The total sold was 10,195. There was a moderate selection consisting chiefly of cross-breds, which sold well at full current rates, mainly to the Home trade. Inferior merinos were frequently withdrawn. New Zealand lots sold as follows: Scoured merinos, Murchison (top price, 273 d), average 243 d; slipe ftalf-bred lambs, C.E.M. in square/Pareora (top price 17id), average 173 d. At the wool sales, 12,196 bales were offered and 10,191 were sold, including 582 sold privately. The market closed firm with competition principally from Yorkshire and the Continent. Greasy merino made to 21 id per lb.
