MYSTERY VESSEL
SAMPAN ASHORE IN FIJI United Press Association—By Blacwio Telegraph—Copvrlght SUVA, September 24. A strange vessel, believed to be a Japanese sampan, is aground off the Lamoasa river. The Government yacht Pioneer, with police and Customs officials aboard, left for Lambasa last evening to ensure compliance with the quarantine, Customs and immigration regulations. An unconfirmed report states that the crew landed and went to a Chinese store and purchased goods, paying in Fiji currency, and later landed at Laucala Island, and chopped down a cocoanut tree. DISAPPEARED IN DARK SAMPAN FLOATS OFF REEF United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 24, 8.15 p.m.) SUVA, September 24. The Sampan got off the reef at 11 o’clock last evening and disappeared.
