KITCHEN EVENING

Various utensils for use in the kitchen were received last night by Miss Tui Mcllwrick, when she was entertained by Miss Eleanor Cleland and Miss Diana Smythe at the former’s home in Bidwill Street. Miss Mcllwrick’s marriage to Mr Keown Cleland will take place on October 3, and last night’s hostesses will act as her bridesmaids. The drawing room was decorated with daffodils, primroses, and grape hyacinths and the hall and dining room with bowls filled with japonlca and almond blossom. Mrs J. Cleland wore a frock of wine coloured crepe de chene patterned in pink and white. Miss Eleanor Cleland's simply cut frock was of black crepe de chene patterned in pink and blue. Miss Diana Smythe’s frock of floral georgette was in shades of blue and pink with short-sleeved coatee to match. The guest of honour wore a frock of black chiffon velvet, cut on classical lin-s. the V necked bodice being finished in front with a posy of flowers. During the evening several competitions were held. The guests included Mrs G. Smythe, Mi's A. M. Parker, Mrs F. Robertson, Mrs V. Hargreaves, Misses Mary Cleland, Isla Allport. Margorie Tait, Jaunita Hall, Rita Palliser, Cora Stevens, Edith Arthur, Betty Sutherland, Maire Fear, Kathleen Smythe, Doreen Lemon. Clare Morton, Doris Jones, Joan Maclntyre and Betty Holdgate.
