MOBILE POLICE
SCOTLAND YARD EXPERIMENTS British' Official Wireless (Received September 2, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, September 1. An experiment that is being tried by Scotland Yard is expected to result in an important development in the functions of mobile police throughout the country. Special vans with loudspeakers have been put on the roads in the metropolitan police districts to enable police officers to give instructions and advice to road-users, who appear to be in need of it. If the results indicate that the standard of conduct on the roads can be improved by such methods, 'lie police authorities in other parts of the country will be encouraged to take similar action.
