DISPUTE AT WAIHI By Telegraph —Press Association WAIHI, September 1. A mass meeting of all unions held this morning to consider the proposals received from the Government in connection with the trouble arising out of the Martha Gold Mining Company’s adjustment of hours of work to meet the new conditions of the 40-hour week, with a view to settling the dispute, adjourned till to-morrow without a decision being reached. Meanwhile the mine and battery continue idle. The Golden Dawn mine at Owharoa is not affected, the management having been advised by the parent union that the trouble is no concern of theirs.
