TRAIN ACCIDENT
NO DEPARTMENTAL INQUIRY By Telegraph —Press Association WELLINGTON. September 1. There will be no departmental inquiry into the accident to the express train at Paraparaumu on Sunday. A departmental inquiry is usually held only when the cause of the accident is in doubt or negligence is suspected. In the present case the ordinary operating procedure w r as followed by all concerned, the accident happening at a spot w’here trouble had been experienced before with shifting country Departmental officers, however, will make a complete investigation and submit full reports to the general manager w’ho will transmit these to the Minister of Railways. The line is now clear for normal traffic. The locomotive, which si lying by the side of the line, will probably be moved on Sunday.
