CAMPAIGN OPENS
MANUKAU BY-ELECTION An unusual feature of the opening meeting in the Manukau by-election campaign at Onehunga was the intervention of Mr John Morgan,, agricultural editor of the London ‘Daily Herald,” who introduced himself after question time and conveyed greetings from the British Labour Party. Mr Morgan assured the gathering that the issue of the by-election would be taken seriously by al] circles in Britain, including the City of London, as an index of the Dominion's confidence in the Labour Government. The candidate was supported by Mr Clyde Carr, president of the New Zealand Labour Party, and accorded a vote of thanks and confidence by acclamation.
