Mr and Mrs McDonald, Rangiora, are guests at the Empire.

Mrs T. M. Cuthbert, Gisborne, is staying at the Grand.

Mr and Mrs G. W. Charlton, Dunedin, are staying at the Grosvenor. Mrs D. Skinner, Christchurch, is a guest at the Grosvenor.

Mrs M. McCormack, Christchurch Is staying at the Empire.

Miss Sylvia Powell, The Downs, Geraldine, is visiting Christchurch. Miss Joan Lapthorn, Geraldine, has left on a holiday visit to Springfield. Mrs S. C. Chisnall, Woodbury, has returned from Wellington. Mrs Urquhart and Mrs Heron, Orbell Street, have returned from a visit to Tekapo.

Miss Natalie Quirk, Miss Marie Quirk (Christchurch) are staying at the Empire. Miss G. Seymour, Dargaville, is visiting Timaru and is staying at the Empire.

Mrs A. M. Parker, LeCren Street, left yesterday to spend a few days in Christchurch.

Mrs C. E. Thomas, Hampton House, LeCren's Terrace, has returned from a visit to Christchurch. Mrs Cameron, who was the guest of Mrs W. A. Scott, Selwyn Street, has returned to Dunedin.

Mrs R. Hayhurst and Miss Joan Hayhurst, Timaru, are the guests of Mrs A. Hayhurst, Temuka. Mr and Mrs E. Moore, Hinds, are spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs H. Cain, Temuka.

Mr and Mrs Trevor Clarkson, Forest Road, Geraldine, have returned from Christchurch. Mrs F. G. Lysaght (Ashburton), who has been paying with Mrs M. Lysaght, Geraldine, has returned home.

Mrs D. Burnett and Miss Marawill Burnett, “Te Akatarawa,” Hakataramea, are the guests of Mrs Smithson, Christchurch.

Miss Jacqueline Ormond, who is staying with her sistet, Mrs J. Acland, Mt. Peel, will leave to-day on her return to Hawke’s Bay.

Mrs J. O. H. Tripp, Kurow, who has been staying with her father, Mr R. L. Orbell, “The Croft,” Park Lane, has returned home.

Mrs B. L. KeKnnedy, Raukapuka, Geraldine, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs D. Callanan (Christchurch), has returned home.

Mr and Mrs J. J. McGuigan and Miss Mona McGuigan, the Schoolhouse, Geraldine, will leave to-day to spend a holiday in Christchurch. Miss Graham (Wanganui), and Miss Baxter (Christchurch), are paying a short visit to Geraldine, where they are the guests of Miss N. Bergin. Misses Ngaio Marsh (Christchurch), and Joan Spence-Clark (Clifton), are the guests of t Mrs C. J. D. Sharpe, Woodbury. Mrs R. H. Rhodes, “Came," Sealy Street, has returned home after spending a few days with Mrs P. R. Woodhouse, Bluecliffs.

Miss Wright, Wai-iti Road, returned yesterday from a visit to Mrs Harold Wright, Mayfield. Mrs J. C. Templer, Waimate, will arrive to-day to be her guest.

Miss Hester Herrick, Hawke’s Bay, who has been staying with Mrs C. L. Orbell, "Pentlow,” spent the week-end with Mrs J. Acland, Mt. Peel, and returned north yesterday.

Mrs J. M. Morrison, “Wharepuki,” the Downs. Geraldine, will leave to-day for Christchurch, where she will spend a short holiday before leaving for the North Island on a three months’ holiday visit.

Mrs A. C. Barton, Raukapuka, Geraldine, has returned from Wellington, where she was placed second in the grand opera contest at the Wellington Musical Society’s competitions. She left yesterday for Dunedin to take part in the competitions at present being held there.

Miss Gwyneth Hughes (Orari), who is competing at the Wellington Musical Society’s competitions, has been most successful, having secured first place in the New Zealand Composers’ section, and second place in each of the vocal scholarship and women’s Scottish folk or national song sections.
