MINIATURE RIFLES
HARRY PATEMAN CHALLENGE CUP The postal competition for teams of five, arranged by the South Island Miniature Rifle Association, for the challenge cup presented by Mr Harry Pateman. Was concluded last week and the targets were judged on Saturday evening. The conditions were 16 shots (on two cards) 20 or 25 yards optional on metric targets open to South Island teams. Twenty-six teams entered, four of which did not complete. The competition was won by pleasant Point, who will receive five miniature Cups and hold the challenge cup for one year. Willowbridge were runners-up, and J. C. Faulkner of the Willowbridge team obtained the highest individual score with one point down. Scores were: Pleasant Point—W. T. Taylor 156, E. Chapman 158, H. D. Roberts 158, K. Hammond 156, C. Thoreau 154; total, 782.
Willowbridge—C. H. Bennett 152, C. S. Blair 157, G. Richardson 155, J. S. Faulkner 157, J. C. Faulkner 159; total 780.
Other scares were: West End A 779, Pleasant Valley 772, Timaru A 772, West End B 772, Glen-iti 770, Greymouth 770, Glenavy 768, Maklklhi 767, Hook 766, Weston (Oamaru) 761, Nelson Defence 760, West End C 758, Oamaru Railway 755, Timaru B 755, Claremont 754, Kaikoura B 747, Kaikoura A 743, Morven 740, Kaikoura C 720, Kaikoura D 709, Oamaru B, Waimate (2), and Fire Brigade did not complete.

The Washdyke Miniature Rifle Club held its seventeenth shoot on Tuesday night. The trophy was won by P. Applegarth With 74, 73. T. Stocker was runner-up With 80, 77. and also the winner of the Mayo button. The best scores were: T. Stocker 00, B. Moore 76, L. Philp 75, W. Pearce 74, P. Applegarth 74, G. Musgrove 74, F. Stocker 72, D. Stocker 72, D. Doak 72, I. Pearce 11, W. Jones 69, W. King 68, W. Blay 66.
