H. M. KING EDWARD
PROUD OF HIS ASSOCIATION WITH SCOUT MOVEMENT “You probably know me best as Chief Scout for Wales.” said the King in addressing Boy Scouts assembled at Windsor Castle for the National Service annually held in St. George’s Chapel. “That proud position I held for over 20 years, and I have had many opportunities, not only in Great Britain but oversea throughout the Empire, of getting to know your activities and your work and the opportunities that the movement gives to so many boys to learn what comradeship means and good fellowship among those who are your neighbours. But the Scout movement in its best and widest form is international and that, in these days, is a thing of very great importance. I would like you all to remember when you have grown up. when your Scouting days are behind you and you are working in some form of employment, this international aspect of which the Scout movement is such a great example, because this country will always have to take a leading part in the affairs of the world.”
