Mrs George Moran. Fairlic. is staying at the Grand. Miss Kathleen Kay. Duvauchelles, is a guest at the Dominion. Miss J. M. Webster and Miss I.« Webster, Lceston, are guests at the Grand. Grant, Miss Lynette and Masters David and G. W. Grant, Christchurch, are staying at the Dominion. Guests at “Bronwyn House,” include Mr and Mrs M. Smyth, Mrs Morris, Master Richard Morris and Miss Jean Barker, of Christchurch. Miss Adams, Sealy Street, will leave to-day on a visit to Invercargill accompanied by her guest, Mrs Owen Johnston. Lady Young, England, who has been staying with her brother, Mr C. J. Miller, Woodbury, left yesterday on a visit to Oamaru. Mr and Mrs lan Williams, Dunedin, who have come to make their home in Timaru, have taken a flat at Te Kainga, Wai-iti Road. Miss Alma McCallum, Sefton Street, and Miss Nancy Clements, Bidwill Street, left yesterday to spend the week-end at Tekapo. Miss Irene Vucetich has arrived from Dunedin to spend a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs M. N. Vucetich, Chalmers Street. Mrs R. Holdgate, Westport, is staying with Mrs C. Thomson, Evans Street. Mrs Pitts-Brown, who was Mrs Thomson’s guest has returned to Nelson. Miss Molly Howey, Wai-iti Road, who has been on a trip to Sydney has returned to New Zealand and is at present visiting the North Island before returning home. Mrs Herbert Elworthy, “Craigmore,” will leave on Monday for Hawke’s Bay, where she will spend a few weeks with her daughters, Mrs A. P. White and Mrs David Williams. The engagement is announced of Peggy Maureen, youngest daughter of the late H. G. Dowse and Mrs Dowse, of Christchurch, to Eric, only son of Mr and Mrs N. Dash of Rhodes Street, Waimate. The engagement is announced of Merle K. A. Burrell, only child of Mr and Mrs G. E. Burrell, “Rangimarie,” Page’s Road, Timaru, and William A. Grave of Gore, eldest son of Mr M. The social room in St. Patrick’s Hall was prettily decorated on Tuesday afternoon, when a very enjoyable musical programme was held. Gifts for the “Fairy Tree” at the Catholic Bazaar were brought by the guests. Those who contributed items were

The executive of the Timaru branch of the Plunket Society which included the president, Mrs L. M. Inglis, Mrs A. Wigley, Mrs F. F. A. Ulrich, Mrs R. T. Turnbull, Mrs C. S. Bruce, Mrs V. C. Meehan, Mrs C. W. Wood jnr., Mrs A. B. Herdman, Mrs F. Lewis and Mrs C. Hall gave a small tea party yesterday morning at Ye Goode Intent rooms in honour of Miss Hilary, senior Plunket nurse, who has had to resign her position on account of illness in her family. Miss Hilary, who was accompanied by her sister nurse, Miss Barnett, was presented with a small gift by the president who expressed the thanks of the Society for Miss Hilary’s work.
