With reference to Moscow’s denials of the Stalin broadcast, “The Evening News” says that the speeches were picked up in England at 4 a.m.. which is 7 a.m. Russian local time, from the giant No. 1 transmitter at Moscow, with a power of 500 kilowatts. M. Stalin’s deep voice was clearly recognisable, and the other four speakers, including M. Voroshiloff. were all introduced to the microphone by name.
