WEEK-END RESULTS TIMARU CLUB The first rounds of the club championships at Highfield caused several surprises, the chief of which in the seniors was the defeat of the present club champion, G. A. Ussher, by W. A. Scott. Scott, who won 3 and 1, deserved his win on the play, chiefly through Ussher’s lack of touch. R. W. Jones, who is still recovering from an operation, was accounted for by D. Moyes. In the intermediate grade the favourites, C. W. Webber and W. C. Davies, were both defeated. InnesJones, who defeated Webber, had to play off to qualify for last place, but after being several down to his opponent, put on a long string of wins which Webber could not overtake. I. W. Cunningham played very steadily and deserved his win against W. C. Davies. Davies, who has practised very steadily this season, was looked on as the likely winner, and Cunningham’s win is therefore the more meritorious. Results:— Seniors Mackay beat Steven. N. C.
