A message from Yosemite says that the discussion at the Pacific Relations Conference took a sharp political turn to-day, M. Victor Room (Russian delegate) declaring that the Far Eastern problems would not be settled unless the European aggressors were j restrained. He condemned Italy and Germany for “Treaty violations.” In defending the Soviet Union, he said she had no need or desire for external expansion. This brought a caustic rejoinder from the Chinese delegate, who declared that his country had never relinquished the sovereignty over Outer Mongolia. M. Room replied that the Soviet' defence treaty with Mongolia was of benefit to both countries. Unity of Yellow Race In an interview with the correspondent of “The New York Times,” Dr. Hushih, a noted Chinese educator, declared that the only way to obtain peace is by a United China to settle her differences with Japan. He added that this unity was far more advanced than the people of the West realise.
