Mrs Ray Cliff (Pleasant Point), is spending the week-end in Geraldine. Miss Vera Gilmore (Geraldine), is spending the school vacation in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs E. O. Schnack (Pleasant Valley), left yesterday to spend the holidays in Timaru. Miss Flora Mclntyre (Geraldine), will leave to-day to spend the school holidays in Timaru. Mr and Mrs James Innes, Mackenzie Country, are staying at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs W. Anderson and Master Michael Anderson, Christchurch, are staying at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs W. W. Garton, Arthur Street, left yesterday on a visit to Christchurch. Mrs James Watson, Maheno, has returned home after a visit to Mrs H. Harris, Kitchener Square. Miss May Barron, Dunedin, who is the guest of Mrs W. C. Burns, Church Street, will return south to-day. Miss Katie Gillies, will arrive from Dunedin to-day to spend the holidays with Mrs Gillies, Craigie Street. Dr and Mrs F. S. Batchelor, Dunedin, who were visitors to Timaru returned home yesterday,

Mrs W. A. Moore, “Venard,” Waiill Road, returned yesterday from a visit to Christchurch.

Mrs G. H. Wood, Orari, accompanied by Mrs T. Hempstalk, Lyttelton, is leaving on Monday for Auckland.

Mrs Watson Shennan, who was the guest of Mrs Gladstone Robinson, Oakwood, has returned to Dunedin.

Mr and Mrs J. A. Nicol, Rosewill, are on a holiday visit to Waimate and Morven.

Miss Elsie Oddie, will arrive from Dunedin to-day to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. C. Oddie, LeCren Street.

Mrs Tolley, Craighead School, will leave on Tuesday for Dunedin and Invercargill, where she will attend reunions of old girls of Craighead. Misses H. McCaughern and M. McDonagh (Geraldine), will spend the school holidays camping at Arthur’s Pass.

Miss K. W. Hewson, who has been headmistress at the Hilton School for over nine years, will take up a position on the Ashburton East School after the term holidays.

The Timaru lady bowlers and the Women’s Institutes were among the subscribers to the presentation which was made to Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite on Wednesday. These names were omitted as no representative had signed the official letter.

Members of the Arts and Crafts Circle of the Temuka Women’s Institute made a presentation, at their monthly meeting, to Miss Mavis Topham, an enthusiastic member, who is shortly to be married. The presentation was made by Mrs W. J. Keys, the president, who spoke in appreciative terms of Miss Topham’s interest in the circle and its object. The recipient, who will be leaving the district to live in North Auckland, thanked her friends for their gift and expresion of best wishes for the future.

Miss M. McCaughern, who for the past term has been on the staff of the Secondary Department of the Geraldine District High School, will leave to take up a new position after the term holidays. Yesterday afternoon opportunity was taken by the pupils to make her a farewell presentation, and on their behalf. Miss Kathleen Maister presented Miss McCaughern with a volume of Matthew Arnold’s poems, at the same time expressing their regret at her departure and wishing her every success in the future.

The fortnightly meeting of the Y.W.C.A. Mother’s Club took the form of a Scottish afternoon. Mrs Hoskin presided over a large attendance. Enjoyable items were contributed by Mrs Hoskin (pianoforte solo), Miss Ellis (vocal solo), Mrs Phillips (vocal solo) and Miss Lowe (Highland dances). Mrs Thomson played the accompaniments. Afternoon tea was then served at the close of the meeting a bring and buy sale was held, a satisfactory sum being raised. Each member received a gift of butter-scotch.
