A BOXING CONTRAST
NOT PUNCHES ALONE As a contrast, consider two cases of fighters who were opposite in habits of living and just as opposed in style. Kid Chocolate was the swift and elusive boxer, a remarkably fine featherweight. when at his best. He took few beatings and comparatively few heavy punches. Bat Nelson, the former lightweight champion, is far famed in ring lore for his ability to “take it,” one of the alltime fighters in that respect. Tire difference was that Nelson took
care of himself and lived a normal life while Chocolate hit the high spots of fast living.
To-day the incomparable Bat is all right, sound mentally and living a normal life in Illinois. He is as sound
physically and mentally as anyone of his age. regardless of occupation. Chocolate, on the other mitten, now wobbles about on his legs, a bit “punchy.”
