PORT OF TIMARU

LATEST ADVICES The Holmdale, which arrived during the week-end, loaded yesterday for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui, and was despatched last night for the north via Lyttelton. There were no arrivals at the port. DEPARTURE August 10 Holmdale, ss., 681 tons (Copland) for Lyttelton. (H. J. R. Somerville and Co., agents.) The following list of steamers’ movements is compiled in accordance with advices supplied by agents for the different Lines:

PROJECTED DEPARTURES

NOTES The Waikouaiti is expected to arrive from Dunedin this morning to discharge and load general Australian cargo. She is to sail this evening for Lyttelton. The Breeze will replace the Storm on her northern voyage and will call here to-day in the latter vessel’s stead. She is to load for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui before proceeding to Lyttelton. The Karu should be here this evening from Oamaru. After loading Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth shipments she is to sail via Lyttelton. The Storm will now call at Timaru on Thursday to load for Wellington and Wanganui. Port Hunter to Discharge Messrs D. C. Turnbull and Co. advise that the Port Line ship Port Hunter will arrive from Lyttelton to-morrow to continue discharge of her Home cargo. She is to proceed to New Plymouth on Thursday and will return to Timaru on August 24 from Wellington to load for London. From here she is to sail the following day for Napier. Rangitane’s Loading Schedule The Rangitane, which is now due at Wellington on September 1 to commence discharge, is to omit Lyttelton from her loading schedule. After completing discharge at Auckland she will return to Wellington direct on September 14 to commence loading, returning to Auckland again to complete. She will leave Auckland finally on September 24 for the United Kingdom. Auckland Dredging Operations Mariners are advised that the dredger Hapai is working approximately 500 feet to the northward of the north-east corner of the Central Wharf, Auckland Harbour, and, with a hopper barge on each side, is moored in a north-south direction with six moorings laid out in north, south, east, and west directions. A red ball by day and a red light by night are exhibited from the yardarm on the side on which vessels should pass. Narbada from Calcutta The Union Steam Ship Company Ltd. advises that the Narbada left Calcutta on August 3 for Penang, en route to New Zealand.
