BRIDGE COLLAPSES
PASSENGER IN LORRY KILLED By Telegraph- -Pres Association TAUMARUNUI, August 10. A fatal accident occurred this afternoon at Howey’s bridge. 16 miles from Taumarunui. W. Haupapa, driving a lorry laden with one bush log, had a passenger with him, David Crosby. When the lorry was crossing Howey’s bridge it collapsed and the lorry was precipitated into the creek. Crosby was killed outright and Haupapa’s shoulders were badly crushed. He was admitted to the Tai n.arunui Hospital.
