“A NIGHT AT THE OPERA”

MARX BROTHERS AT MAJESTIC Notable for the clowning of the Marx brothers, “A Night at the Opera” now at the Majestic Theatre, contains some of the funniest interludes screened for some time. Whatever may be their immediate occupation or pursuit the Marx brothers invariably make it the cause of great amusement among their audience. Graucho, Chico and Harpo each has his own type of humour, while as a combination this trio is splendid. Graucho’? flow of witticisms and repartee is matched only by Chico’s studied stolidness and Harpo’s amusing inanity. Kitty Carlisle and Allan Jones appear in grand opera roles and music lovers will appreciate the presentation of the two finest things in “11 Trovatore,” the “Anvil Chorus” and the “Miserere.” “ Road Gang ” A picture of raw, stark realism, said to bare the terrors prisoners are subjected to in certain penal institutions comes to the Majestic to-morrow under the title of “Road Gang.” Besides its terrifying aspects which make it of vital interest, there is a glowing romance of a girl who sticks by her man even when he is convicted of a crime, and who battles for his release until she eventually wins his freedom. There is a wealth of dynamic drama and fast action, with thrill upon thrill, including a convict’s strike and battle with police guards who use gas bombs in the bowels of the earth; a fight between police cars and an auto in which a convict is fleeing for his life; and the blasting of a mine tunnel with dynamite.
