HILTON FOOTBRIDGE
The reconstruction of the Hilton footbridge by employees of the Geraldine County Council is approaching completion. The stiffening of the supporting piles is now in hand, and it is hoped when this is finished that the increased height of the platform above flood level will prevent the periodical wrecking of the bridge in future when the river rises. Flooding at this point has constituted a problem for years past.
Mr Stanley H. Mayne, F.S.M.C., J’J.C (London), representing Procters, the Premier Opticians, Christchurch, will be visiting Geraldine on Wednesday, 12th August, and may be consulted on all defects of eyesight at the Crown Hotel. Appointments can now be made by writing or ringing : Tr Morris Williams, chemist, ’ohone 61
