TEMUKA
HEAVY TRAFFIC EXTENSIVE CHECK-UP Ninety-two hours’ continuous watching of the Main North Road in the vicinity of Temuka by relays of traffic inspectors has just concluded. Not a minute of the time was the supervision relaxed, inspectors from Chrictchv.rch assisting Mr W. R. Ashwell, of the South Canterbury district, in eight-hourly shifts for the first day and at intervals of four hours in the latter stages of the watch. Such rigid supervision of the highway was carried out in order to check-up on all heavy motor traffic using the road, in order that information regarding the number, loads and times of travel might be available to the Transport Licensing Authority for No. 3 district. Mr Ashwell stated yesterday that he would shortly be carrying out an extensive check-up of all motorists to inspect licenses and possibly test brakes and lights.
