SERIOUS HOLD-UP
CONFERENCE CALLED INDUSTRIAL COMMISSIONER INTERVENES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received February 4, 11.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 4 A compulsory private conference between the parties to the dispute at the Port Kembla steel works, was held before Mr Justice Cantor of the Industrial Commission, to-day, but no settlement was reached. Mr Justice Cantor in referring to the matter in the open Court, declared that the men should have brought their claims before the Industrial commission instead of which they sought to impose their own conditions. He advised the men to resume work and to present their claims to the Commission, and thus avoid further heavy loss.
