CONDITIONS IN TIMARU Conditions yesterday were mild and pleasant and although a bank of cloud in the west threatened an overcast sky, the day remained fairly clear, until the early evening when there was a light Shower. A cool sea breeze prevailed. 7716 records at the Timaru Gardens yesterday were:— Barometer —30.04. Min. temp, on grass—s 3.4. Wind —E.2. Rainfall—Nil. Rainfall to date this year—l.ssins. Rainfall to date last year—2.32ins. Sunshine—7.2 hours. Sunshine to date this year—lBo.6hrs. Maximum temp.—7o. IN OTHER CENTRES Ashburton: Conditions were warm and sunny in Ashburton yesterday. The sky was slightly cloudy and there was little wind. Geraldine: Air temperatures, min. 53, max. 74, at 9 a.m., 65. Bright and fine early, dull and overcast later, with steady showers after 5 p.m. Temuka: Yesterday was fine and warm, the maximum temperature being 69 degrees and the minimum 47. The glass last evening was steady. Waimate (24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday)—Barometer, 30.20: thermometer, highest 66.2, lowest 50.6; wind gauge, miles run in the previous 24 hours, 80; bright sunshine, 6 hours 50 minutes. Yesterday was fine and warm. DOMINION METEOROLOGIST General situation.—A moderate anticyclone still extends across the Dominion. A slight depression has been passing in the south, however, and another one is at present located over south-eastern Australia. Winds—Light, moderate and variable, but gradually tending northerly, later freshening somewhat. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Considerable swell at first on the East Coast, but otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate east to north-east winds in the northern portions, freshening north to north-westerly -in the southern Pacific, seas slight to moderate. Weather—For the most part fair but with considerable cloud at times, some scattered local rain likely, more especially in western districts and the far north and south. MR F. L. WOOLES Wind—Light to moderate easterly to northerly. Weather —Continue fine and warm.
