GRAVE SITUATION IN EGYPT
CABINET MAKING BY KING WAFD PARTY CALLED TO OFFICE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright CAIRO, January 24. The political position is grave. Troops and police have been ordered to stand by. The Provincial Governors are remaining at their posts. A complete party deadlock prevails. The Wafd proposes a Wafd Cabinet, and a Royal Commission, including the minority party, to negotiate with Britain and provision of seats in the new Parliament for the minority. Nahas Pasha urges that a Neutral Cabinet should conduct the election. The United Front leaders, Mahmoud Pasha and Sidky Pasha, decided that the Wafd proposals were unacceptable, and favoured the formation of a Coalition under Nahas Pasha to negotiate with Britain and submit the result to the electorate prior to the elections. Nahas Pasha, in an interview said that King Fuad remains master of the country. WAFD CABINET MOOTED. KING’S OFFER TO NAHAS PASHA.
