SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The management committee of the South Canterbury Tennis Association met last evening. Present—Messrs R. A. Holdgate (president), W. M. Sexton, A, E. Sandral, W. Durning, J. Satterthwaite and P. W. Young. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association wrote stating that the application of the Association for the next New Zealand championships would be considered when the location of the championships was decided in July next. Particulars were asked for regarding the number of courts available, seating accommodation and other matters. Mr Sandral said that they would have to have the co-operation of the Borough Council in regard to various matters, and he saw no hurry for a month or so. Mr Sexton suggested that a subcommittee be set up to inquire into tiie points raised by the New Zealand Association. It was agreed to inform the New Zealand Association that the position would be inquired into and particulars supplied later. The Temuka Club advised that it had appointed Mr J. Milliken, of the Aorangi Club, as delegate in place of Mr W. E. Renton. The secretary reported that application had been made to the New Zealand Association for an appearance in Timaru of the Australian players, E. F Moon and V. B. McGrath between the Otago and Canterbury matches. The application would be considered on December 10. The president said that an offer had been made to pick the players up in Dunedin by car, and take them on to Christchurch. The suggested date was December 27. This clashed with the M.C.C. cricket match in Timaru, but it was the first day of the match, and should not make a great deal of difference. Mr Sandral said that the New Association might consider that it was too much to ask the players to play three days running, particularly when they were coming off asphalt on to grass. • The chairman said that if the dai.e suggested was not suitable, another date might be given them. Some discussion took place in regard to the ladder, the point in dispute being No. 9 position. It was agreed to close the open challenge list as from that day. In regard to representative matches it was decided to suggest March 14 to the Canterbury Association and February 15 to the Otago Association. The junior championships were fixed for February 8. In regard to matches with country clubs, it was agreed to write to the clubs stating that the Association was prepared to play matches and suggescing that the games be played on tho country courts.
