LINES OF POLICY STATEK3NT WITHHELD By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. December 5. Before leaving for Government House, Mr Savage, interviewed, said the Government would get on with the job immediately. While he was anxious to meet the people of New Zealand as early as possible, he would not be able to make a tour until next year, when he 1 pel to visit various centres of the Dominion. It is his intention to spend Christmas in Auckland. Announcing that the first meeting of t 1.2 Cabinet would take place on Saturday, he said he could not, in the meantime, reveal the lines cf policy to be followed. While the Government was prepared for action, it was not going to rush its fences, but proceed along lines of co-operation with all those prepared to co-operate. With reference to Samoa, he said the question of the appointment of an Administrator had not been considered, but it could be taken for granted that the man to be appointed would have sympathy for the Samoans and appreciation of their customs. Questioned regarding the omission of Mr W. J. Jordan from the Ministry, he said it was quite true that Mr Jordan was to receive an important post later. As Sir James Parr’s term of office did not expire until the end of next year, the question of appointing a successor did not arise immediately. He said the whole of the Ministerial secretarial corps would be taken over by the new Government, and it might be necessary to make one or two new appointments. The private secretaries were a line body of men, and they had always treated him with the greatest courtesy. There was no reason why they should be replaced.
